The Story of Destination Wedding Chicks
In 2017, Patricia began her AirBnB business, renting out ocean-front property. She met with success with this, but wanted to take her enterprise to a higher level.
During this time, about 1,700 miles away, Seth Chambers was driving through blizzards in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Having just lost his wife of fifteen years to cancer, Seth was searching out a place to begin life anew. While driving, he kept reciting a prayer from A Course in Miracles: “What is my Father’s will for me? Where would you have me go, and what would you have me do?” Somewhere along the way, he received an unlikely answer: Go to St. Augustine, Florida.
Instead of settling down in the Great Frozen North of Michigan, Seth drove south to St. Augustine. Seth had always been a meticulous planner, but now he was without his customary To-Do lists and Action Plans. He wondered just what he was doing in a town he knew virtually nothing about.
Housing was in short supply in St. Augustine at the time, so he rented the one available space he could find on Craigslist, a room being rented by Patricia. In this way, Seth met Patricia within four hours of arriving in St. Augustine.
Seth and Patricia quickly became friends, and it wasn’t long before she told him about her ambition to expand her AirBnB business. Her primary goal at the time was to acquire a beach house in Ponte Vedra that was not just a prime location for business, but held personal significance for Patricia.
Patricia had once lived in this house, and had heard the house talk to her. Actually, not just the house, but a palm tree at the front of the property, as well. What’s more, her spiritual guides informed her that this would be a house of healing for many, and that people would walk past it and be spontaneously healed without even knowing why.
Patricia was not the only person to hear the house talk. Other people to experience this was a cleaning lady and a very down-to-earth maintenance worker. Seth, who is not generally given to hearing voices, had a peculiar experience. After a tropical storm one day, he heard the house sing a refrain from an Elton John song: “I’m still standing . . . ”
Such experiences could easily be chalked up to imagination, but there might actually be a more scientific component, as well. Some years before Patricia and Seth acquired the house, the Prime Minister of Portugal used the house as location for conducting experiments in quantum mechanics. He, like Patricia, had a vision of the house becoming a spiritual center of healing.
Patricia asked Seth to invest in her dream, and he agreed. He put in about twenty grand to begin with, but it soon became apparent that the beach house was in need of further development, and so required more funds. As Seth invested more money, Patricia had the garage renovated into a bedroom and dressing room, among other upgrades.
Seth and Patricia soon became more than friends, and ended up flying to Vegas to get married sixty-nine days after meeting.
Sometime later, Patricia woke up one day to a female angel at her bedside. Seth, being an early riser, had already been up for a couple hours, so Patricia was alone with the angel. The angel told her that she needed to do more with her properties. After Patricia asked the angel what she meant by this, the angel replied, “Like weddings and such.”
Patricia told Seth about her encounter and asked what he thought about the idea of hosting weddings. Seth, being pragmatic, asked, “How much will that cost?”
Well, it cost a lot, but they went ahead and began hosting weddings, at the beach house and elsewhere. Seth exhausted his investment portfolio to continue upgrades and launch the wedding side of the business. He sold his motorcycle to build a deck on the back of the house, and sold his car. Patricia, meanwhile, worked maniacally to manage each wedding and provide brides with their dream weddings.
